Obituary for Blaine Bruce Nittel

Blaine Bruce Nittel
Blaine Bruce Nittel, youngest son of Bruce and Wendy-Ellen Nittel passed away tragically on July 2nd, 2012 at the age of 23. Blaine is also survived by his brother, Nathan and his daughter, Haylee; his sister, Sharlynn Polson, her husband, Ashley and their son, Hayden. Blaine is also survived by his grandfather, Herb Nittel; and his godmother, Lorraine Stotz and her husband, Randy. Also cherishing his memory are his aunts and uncles, Dennis Nittel, Joanne and Jerry Clark, Debbie and Clint Kleinknecht, Brenda and Don Houff, Eileen Hall, Jacquie and Lloyd Stuber, and Linda and Harvey Deering, and his many cousins. Blaine also left many special ‘4-H brothers and sisters’, 4-H moms, ‘aunts and uncles’ and friends to mourn his passing, Kailee Kalmring, Steve and Sylvia Clark, Matt and Sedina Konchuk, Arlo Sailer, Philip Boser, Heather Wallace and Jory Stenger. Blaine was predeceased by his grandparents, Anna Marie and Jack Faller and Jean Nittel; one cousin, Devon Kleinknecht and special friend, Tyler Gustuvson. Blaine was raised on the family farm, or as he liked to call it ‘the ranch’ and started riding the bus with Frieda and Ken Lehr. They gave him preferential treatment with a coloring book and crayons to bide his time on the ‘long’ bus ride to Herald School. Blaine made lifelong friends at Herald with whom he still kept in contact. Irvine School and 4-H buddies happened in grade seven. Now he could see his ‘Elkwater Camp buddies’ every day. Blaine was a member of the Medicine Hat 4-H Multi Club for ten years. He had many fond memories of 4-H and the many friends and ‘moms’ he met. Blaine had a blast with his 4-H brothers, Kirby Lust and Cody Hausauer. These boys enjoyed six great years together as co-campers at Elkwater and at Provincial 4-H camps. At these camps Blaine met and made many life-long 4-H friends. A highlight of his 4-H years was receiving the Alberta NWT Agricultural Development Tour at Selections. Blaine was also an awesome bowler. He enjoyed many hours at Connaught Lanes where he also met and kept many friends. His room décor at the farm was bowling trophies, 4-H awards and his many mementos of both. Blaine graduated from Eagle Butte High School in 2007. He played rugby and had many fond memories of his team and coach, Darrel Grass. Blaine would often ask his mom about the EBHS staff when she subbed there. Blaine worked for TLC Farms and Kim Lust. He greatly enjoyed working with this cousin, Kurtis fixing and refinishing lanes at various bowling alleys. Blaine then went to work for Spirit West where he truly enjoyed his job and his co-workers. Blaine was looking forward to taking over the family farm. This was his dream. He was planning on buying cows this fall to start his own herd. On his days off this past spring and summer, one would usually find him at the farm helping his dad, working on the farmyard or keeping down the gopher population with Nathan. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be said at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Sunday, July 8th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Monday, July 9th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Cristino Bouvette, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Blaine’s memory may be made to the Medicine Hat 4-H District, P.O. Box 1015, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 7H1.
